Classes visit the library weekly to borrow books, which should be kept in a library bag. In Kindy, the Teacher runs the library session, while in Pre-Primary and up, our Library Officer, Brooke Donabie, runs the library session.
During library sessions, students will have the opportunity to listen to stories, watch Storybox stories online (ask how you can access these free from home!), play games, contribute to discussions about books, create art for displays, learn about books, other resources and library skills.
We create a culture of reading by:
ensuring students always feel welcome and supported in the library;
empowering students to choose reading material that reinforces reading for pleasure; and
giving students confidence to utilise library services throughout their lifetime.
Our collection includes everything from classic picture books, to the latest in popular children’s fiction and graphic novels, as well as weird, wonderful and engaging non-fiction texts. We open some lunchtimes for students, and families are invited to see what’s available during After School Borrowing.
Every year, we celebrate books and reading with exciting Book Week activities.
